What to Expect When Your New Baby Arrives!

Being pregnant (especially for the first time) can be extremely exciting and a very happy time as you prepare for your new arrival. However, it can also feel daunting at times and a little overwhelming as you realise the idea of bringing your child home for the first time.

Surestart and the Lower Valley Health Visitors team want to help you feel confident and reassured about those first few days and weeks after your baby has arrived. These one off sessions help with that. Please see our What’s On guide for details or contact the Children’s Centres for further information.

So if you are 30 weeks + then come along to our antenatal workshop and meet your new Health Visitor.  Click here to view – What To Expect When Your New Baby Arrives

Food For Life Award

Congratulations Innovations & Creations Children’s Centres on being the first Children’s Centres in the country to achieve the Food For Life award. The Food For Life Award has been the platform we have been waiting for.

Our Children’s Centres are passionate about food and understand the impact that a lack of the right types of food can have on children’s learning and health.

All our children’s centres work within the guidance and this has developed practitioners knowledge and their understanding about the importance of ensuring children have the right foods at the right times. Children are now confident in making good choices around healthy food and have an awareness of healthy lifestyles which will have long term benefits for their future.

We are proud to be a local ambassador for the Food For Life award and are looking forward to supporting others on their journey.

Here are a few examples of ‘Catch the Comments’ received.

“I can’t praise the staff enough each and every team member has taken the time to get to know my daughter and her needs, likes, dislikes etc.  Even they have taken the time to get to know myself at every session when I collect my daughter they give me a detailed account of her day, how she ate etc.  I haven’t met a team member at WPCC who is not 200% dedicated to the job and the children.  I am so glad my child comes to this nursery as opposed to another”.

“I’m glad that my child has come for his 2 year funding.  He has some issues with speech and this was picked up quickly.  As a result my child has support in place going into nursery”.

“The Beauty course has not only taught me employable skills, but has provided me with some well needed pampering at the same time, and have also enabled me to make new friends”.

“You’re like my guardian angels, last time you did this I needed you and now you have rung me aging just when I need you”.

If you have any comments, compliments or suggestions please ask at your nearest Children’s Centre for a Catch the Comment form.  You never know, It might be your turn to win!

Volunteering Kite mark.

This summer, North Halifax Partnership achieved The Calderdale Volunteering Kite mark for demonstrating consistent quality as a volunteering involving organisation. The kite mark covers all aspects of our practice from how we recruit volunteers to the one to one supervision and supported next-steps for volunteers.

The kite mark is awarded by North Bank Forum (Nbf), the organisation which provides support to the voluntary sector on behalf of Calderdale Council, and is known locally as Calderdale Sector Support. Together with our other awards and accreditations like Quality for Health; Bronze Award for Environmental Business Pledge; and CHAS accreditation, the Volunteering Kite mark shows that people outside NHP have looked at our work across the organisation and confirmed it meets a high standard. Well done everyone for achieving this.
