Illingworth Community Children’s Centre is based in the grounds of Whitehill Academy and was officially opened on Saturday 20th September 2008 by Labour MP Linda Riordan. It is open to all members of the community but especially caters for children under 5 years of age and their families.
The whole concept of the children centre is to ensure that every child gets the best possible start in life with an ‘every child matters’ policy which helps children and their families to be healthy, stay safe, enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution and achieve economic wellbeing.
The Children’s Centre staff have been able to establish effective working relationships with a wide range of agencies and voluntary organisations and most importantly families in the area to provide activities for all age groups in a safe, warm and friendly environment.
Consultation with families in the area has enabled us to prioritise the services that are available at the centre and helped us to focus on developing innovative ways to ensure that parents and users have all been able to influence the services that are available.
The centre also provides rooms that can be hired out for meetings/courses etc.
