Lower Valley Summer of Fun

Across all Lower Valley Reach Areas, we have had a fantastic summer of fun inviting families to join in a range of fun and free activities. This included footgolf at Bradley Park, a Rex cinema event, swimming at Plains Pool, pond dipping and den building at Cromwell Bottom and big Games at Hollywell Green.

Each activity was fully booked and thoroughly enjoyed by all that attended. We received some fantastic feedback:

“Enjoyed the sessions offered today. Children interacted well as a group and learnt new things about nature and the woodland area.”

“Absolutely loved this activity, both my children really enjoyed it, it was different, great activity would highly recommend.”

“Brilliant! Lovely to get out and have a play. Lovely atmosphere, well run and a lovely lunch provided! Thank you”

“A brilliant start to the summer, very well organised.”

“Lovely set up, with lots to do. Very helpful staff helping show the children how to use the activities. PACKED LUNCH WENT DOWN WELL. Good for all ages.”

Thank you to all staff who supported these events and worked hard behind the scenes to ensure that they were successful and enjoyed by all.

Nurturing Bright Futures – A Volunteer Case Study

Chloe started volunteering with North Halifax Partnership to gain experience in a daycare setting with  the aim of gaining employment in the Early Years Sector.

Chloe volunteered with North Halifax Partnership for six months at Kevin Pearce Children’s Centre, before being placed in the daycare team as a Daycare Assistant.

Read Chloe’s story…

Chloe had previously studied childcare when leaving school, but did not complete the qualification due to a change in circumstances and began working an office-based job. Chloe applied for an Early Years Practitioner post within one of our centres but was advised to gain some additional experience through the support North Halifax Partnership offers. This gave Chloe the confidence and skills to take this next step of her journey and start her new venture in Early Years.

Progression timeline

· Volunteered at Kevin Pearce Children’s Centre as a Daycare Assistant for 6 months.

· Joined the sessional workers list and covered  regular hours for 4 months.

· Secured a permanent Early Years Practitioner post at Innovations Children’s Centre.

“I enjoyed volunteering because it gave me a true insight into the role I wanted to get into. The team at Kevin Pearce made me feel so welcome and I felt I was a member of the team. They taught me so much.”

“It was a really good experience and helped me get the post I wanted. Without this experience I don’t think I would have been successful. I feel like I have improved how I communicate with different people. I have also learnt how to adapt activities for children effectively.”

– Chloe, Volunteer

“Chloe started to volunteer in the Mini Movers room one day a week. From the get go she was confident and fit right in with the babies routines and was capable of doing all the tasks asked of her.

She was part of the team and took part in tuff tray challenges and providing creative and sensory opportunities to a high standard.

Chloe was flexible and was able to work when needed to cover in the Early Years Unit following the routine of the older children.”
